San Franciscon Trip

April-8, SL and I finished our hometrip and travelled back to US, to make our flight ticket more valuable, we decided to stop at San Francisco for two nights before headed back to Oregon, which we had the plan in two months ago with our rental car and hotel booking done. This trip can be considered as family trip because my parents-in-law are coming with us, they will stay with us for three weeks, I think this will make our live feel more lively because more people merrier, especially in this lonely place.

We arrived to San Francisco at 11am, it took us about an hour to get through immigration, baggage claim, custom and rental car. For taking rental car in SFO, we need to get train to their rental car counter, anyways it is still considered convenient.

After we got our car, we moved forward to our hotel for checked in, it is Francisco Bay Inn, I personally like this hotel because it is well equiped with microwave, coffee maker, fridge, hair dryer and everything, they even have iron in bathroom. All after all, I am satisfied with it and I am happy that I booked it for my parents-in-law stay, I wish they like it as well.

Actually, it was a bit tired on our first arrival due to long haul flight from Malaysia to US, so that we took two hours break in room after we had our lunch at Fishermen Wharf with clam chowder and fish n chip. SL said clam chowder is specialised food in San Francisco though I didn't find it too special. After break, we headed to Vacaville Outlet Store for some shopping, there I bought a pair of Timberland hiker shoes becuase we couldn't find a Timberland outlet in Oregon. For me, I think the shoes are worth for price and we will do some hiking during this summer, which is our favourite activity :D Well, this is the end of our first day.

At the second day, we woke up at normal time and took average well continental breakfast from our hotel, then we headed to Lombard Street which is just nearby our hotel. Lombard Street is the most special street in San Francisco because it is constructed with eight switches for downward driving. According to my tourist book, Lombard Street once was the steepest street in San Francisco, but it is too hard to climb up by street, so that they "renovated" it to be this winding street, now Lombard Street becomes one of famous attractions in San Francisco where I found a lot of tourists took pictures along the street.

While we were driving in San Francisco, we found there are many steep road in this city, which I found hard to find a flat road, this makes me wondering if San Francisco is a city with the most steep street in US or even in the world.

Later, our viewpoint was Golden Gate Bridge which is a must visit attration in San Francisco, there we spent some time in different places to get different view on Golden Gate Bridge. However, I am not sure with a thing, why this red bridge is so called as "Golden" Gate Bridge. Anyways, this bridge was considered as an impossible construction in architecture during past time, but it still successfully build and standing there for such long time.

Also, we took a walk around Palace of Art, I was attracted by its beautiful scene, the building, the plant and the lake, they were perfectly matching with each other, let me a feel of relaxation and romantic.

Then, we visited to Golden Gate Park, it is a big park and consists a lot of different attractions there, like small tulip garden, science musuem, Japan Garden, Stow Lake and the rest, we spent some time there for resting and sightseeing, of course photos taking as well.

At last, we went for a sneak on Twin Peak for birdview of San Francisco because Twin Peak can be considered as the tallest place in this city. Then, we just stopped by San Francisco City Hall for picturing before we ended our trip on second day.

Finally, our final day in San Francisco came and we went to Pier 39 at first for seal lion and my music box shopping, there I bought a music box there, which is one of my dream to own a music box since I was a child and my dream comes true finally, I love the music from the box and its cute design :D

Next is Financial district turn, I certainly wanted to take a picture with Transamerica's Pyramid as it look really special to me, this building was once to be the tallest building in San Francisco with a lot of debate after completion, still it standing firm there and to be a landmark of San Francisco.

Coit Tower at Telegraph Hill is the next, we spent some time there with the statue and Coit Tower as well as view of San Francisco. We had our lunch at House of Nan King, this is a restaurant I insisted to go because I saw it appeared in "America's worst driver of San Francisco", also according to review that is the best cheap Chinese restaurant in "US", well I would rate it as average only.

After Chinese food, of course we need to take a look at Chinatown, there I could find their street written in Chinese name as well, what a well design? The gate to Chinatown is a handgraph(天下为公) from "Sun Wen", the first leader of China in modern time ~~ Sun Zhong Shan, which mean the country is not only owned by one person or one family, but it is owned by everyone in the country, the leadership is for the person who know how to rule, but not to the owned son. This is the new politic philoshophy during his time when Qing dynasty was still the ruler of China.

Here, our trip almost came to the end and we headed to airport earlier than our expected and waited in SFO about five hours before we took our flight back to Oregon.

If I need to compare San Francisco with Portland, I would say San Francisco has more tall buildings and crowded people, well I also can find a lot of shops that I couldn't find in Portland. However, Oregon is the only state in US that we don't need to pay tax for all expenses, which I love it the most because this saves my time to do calculation when paying.
