Wildlife Safari and Crater Lake Visit
Crater Lake is the deepest lake in US, it was a volcanic lake for many years ago and now it forms a lake for tourism to appreciate its beautifulness. Last Weekend was good weather and we planned for visiting Crater Lake at south of Oregon with about 5 hours driving time to the West Entrance. Due to early spring after winter, North Entrance is still closed by snow blocking, else we would save more time on driving to enter the National Park from North Entrance.
Before we went to Crater Lake, we first visited to a Wildlife Safari which just near to Crater Lake, the entrance fee is USD17.99 each adult for two admissions in one day, while senior citizen would get USD3 off.
In safari, we are not allowed to exit from vehicle and we need to stay in car and drive around 15mph, animals are free to walk around the safari area which is quite special when you can see ostriches, giraffes, bison, etc walked around and just nearby our car. However, those dangerous animals like tiger, lion, bear, etc are still caged for safety purpose.
We spend about 3 hours in the Safari and we took a lot of pictures, SL loves his SLR so much because it’s able help us to zoom in a lot and get beautiful and clear picture on those wildlife, yes, I should agree that SLR is really different from the normal camera if you really like to take special and beautiful photograph.
After stopping at Wildlife Safari, we headed to Crater Lake which is about 2 hours driving distance from where we were. I am not sure if it is because of roadblock or winter season, Crater Lake National Park is free for entry until May which bought us a free ticket to visit there.
For time just after winter and snowing season, almost whole part of Crater Lake is covered by snow that we still could see thick snow along the road and some building’s entrance even blocked by snow. However, we could see other side of scenery of Crater Lake, which I so called it as snow world Crater Lake, the “Crater” here is not able to heat this full load of snow.
According to SL, there is a trail for vehicle to drive around Crater Lake during summer, so that tourists could appreciate its beautifulness from different location of lake, well we are not able to do that on the day because snow is surrounded the lake, we are blocked to drive any further than car park.
Anyways, I still saw the Crater Lake, it is beautiful even in snow scene. However, I would suggest late Summer or Autumn would be best seoson for Crater Lake, when snow fully melten in the mountain and we can travel the trail around Crater Lake, it would be perfect Crater Lake trip.
