Cameron Highlands Trip (Day 1)

11 April 2009, Saturday, SL and I woke up in early morning, as we planned to visit to Cameron Highlands, this is a short trip for my visa interview in KL as Cameron Highlands is just at the midway from Penang to KL. Therefore, we departed 2 days earlier of my visa interview appointment date.

Finally, my hope to Cameron Highlands comes true, I kept talking to visit to Cameron Highlands for 2 years but we never planned for it, until now we planned this farewell trip before SL leaves.

It took us around 4 hours to arrive to Cameron Highlands and we visited 2 farms at the middle to top of Cameran Highlands, I had bought my favourite cactus at the second farm, it sold at RM10 for 6 pots of cactus, I also bought a handle for my cactus, so that they could look more beautiful. I think their price is reasonable, but I am afraid if they can live longer, as I got some shadow from childhood, which I grew a cactus until die :(



There are many farms in Cameron Highlands, this is the second visited farm, we spent longer time there as there is a lot of plants, cactus and flowers, also it is the first big farm and we found new to it.











After that, we spent some time driving around Brinchang to get know with the place, but we didn't stay long and directed to Tanah Rata as we booked our hotel there. We decided to have our lunch at Tanah Rata, while to have dinner at Brinchang.

I ordered a chicken chop set meal and SL ordered curry chicken rice for lunch, I personal think that price is reasonable, as it only RM13.90 for my set lunch (bread, main course and drink) and the chicken chop is quite big to me, but their taste is just normal.

We checked in to our hotel at 1pm, our hotel is Century Pine Resort, our room is quite big with a King size bed, I was so happy with the big bed as we didn't sleep at such big bed for quite some long period, I was enjoyed with rolling from a corner to another corner of the bed. Seeing our big bed and room, I know that SL tried hard to cheer me up before he leaves to US, it will be long seperation between us, I know he wanted to leave as beautiful memory as possible to me, thanks SL.

We took a while in our room and did some research on our Cameron Highlands map (it costs us RM4, but with a lot of advertisement inside, I think it should be free). Finally, we decided to visit some farms over Brinchang and then just get to Brinchang for the Night Market and steamboat dinner.



Our farm tour started with a Bee Farm, we walked along the track in bee farm and saw their honey storage boxes, I also able to buy a bottle of honey (haha... I like honey :P).



After that, we went to EQ Strawberry Farm and we saw they offered for self plunk strawberry, but we mindset that KEA Farm as our strawberry picking farm, therefore we went to KEA Farm later, however we just found that KEA Farm was closed (I am not sure it will be temparary close or permanent close) and did not provide self plunk serive. We were dissapointed and decided turned back to EQ Strawberry Farm as read from advertisement that their strawberries are free from prestige.

Walking in the EQ Strawberry Farm, I was so excited and kept picking my own strawberries, this is an excellent experience to me, I like this kind of life and it is relaxation. Also, I found SL and I are quite different on picking strawberry, I was seeing at their colour and I picked them as long as I found they are mature to take. Meanwhile, SL was picking by colour and shape, he only picked those which good shape and beautiful colour, he really with high requirement on everything.

At last, we totally collected 590g of strawberries and it costed us RM17.70 for it, I think this is worth the price as I really enjoyed on it.















Next, we visited to Fragance Nursery, there was a lot of plants, flowers and cactus, I kept telling SL that LE (a friend of mine) would really like here as she loves plants a lot and I was thinking to buy a pot of plant for LE, but we still had long journey to go and we didn't know if we also needed to get a pot of plants for other friends as well, therefore we didn't buy any plant.

We didn't walk though all path in Fragance Nursery as SL was tired (he slept late at the previous night and drove long for the morning), therefore we went to Kok Lim Farm for a rest, as there was some shop there and we bought a cup of Strawberry Juice, strawberry tart and strawberry ice cream for our break. There were many strawberry product until we found we were saturated with strawberry in our mind :S





After the break, we went to Multi Crop Market for shopping, I bought some fun toys for myself, I actually quite interested on special games, they are really interesting to me.

Later, we went to a local product shop (Green View Garden) to find any souvenior for friends, finally I got some strawberry chocolates, I tasted it, it was delicious but I didn't tasted any strawberry, I bought it for its good taste.

After that, we walked along night market, it was actually normal except with a lot of strawberry product and fresh vegetables.





After night market walk and short walk around Brinchang town, we were tired enough for having our dinner at Restoran Mountain House Hotel for steamboat dinner, they use charchoal to heat the pot, this is quite special to me and we could use a cover on the top to control their heat.

At first, I found their soup was delicious (ignore a little oily) and their vegetables were fresh (maybe is organic vegies). However, I found soup was qutie salty at the end and I felt quite thirsty after taking their soup. Well... I still had a good dinner at last as I was really full.













We backed to Tanah Rata after dinner and backed to hotel for our two-people-world and eta our self-plunk-strawberries, they are really delicious.
