Day 1 to Los Angeles - Downtown Disneyland (27 July 2009)

27th of July is my last day in Oregon, I was going to leave SL's apartment and fly to Los Angeles with SL at afternoon flight, there we would spend about four days in LA for the last part of my US summer trip.

In two months ago, SL and I have planned for our trip in US, where we would choose stop over in Los Angeles at the first trip and San Francisco at the second trip, so that we could save some money on flying here and there, since some flight tickets are included into my NRDT package. Therefore, SL only paid for his return flight ticket in LA case and mine is just a stop-over.

Due to consider it would be a long day for us, so we had our lunch at Treasure Island Buffet Lunch, so that we could eat until we both were full for whole day journey. Then, we just drove to airport and SL dropped his car to his car rental, but it was some surprises happened with car returned, therefore SL almost lost his temper, I think SL is really an hot temper person, who doesn't really know how to control his emotion, sometime I even would feel hard to be with him.

Our checked in process was smooth, but there was some problems while we went through security check because our sunblock is more than 3 ozs, so that we were disallowed to hand carry in on flight, there were two options to us which we threw it away or we turned back and put it into our check-in luggage, but option two would take us a lot of time. while I considered that SL is an extreme saver, I told the officer that we would like to keep it and put it back to luggage, but SL was lazy on going through whole process, then we just gave up this option and threw the sunblock. Oh no, it was our new bought sunblock and we only used it for once, it was a little sad for throwing it away, but it would be fine if SL didn't angry with this.

Due to we bought our air tickets seperately and with different method, therefore we couldn't sit together, then we just requested to the ticket issuance counter for help and we finally got it, this cheered us up a bit after every unsmooth experinces just now.

Finally, our flight departed on time and arrived to Los Angeles International Airport at Terminal 7, then we needed to find our Disneyland Resort Express to Anaheim, which we had made our online booking two months ago. Just as usual, SL always forgot my existance when he concentrated looking on something. Anyways, we finally found the Disneyland Resort Express, not by rushing for time, but through carefully observation.

It was about 1 hour journey from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) to Anaheim Disneyland area and our drop off point at Red Lion Hotel, which is just near to our motel within a minute walking distance.

Our motel is Zaby's Motor Lodge, we chose it because it is really near to Disneyland Park, just within 15 minutes walking, it is really a cheap and convinent location for us, who don't travel with car rental, but this motel doesn't provide breakfast and they don't have internet access. This motel is considered average if you don't require for an excellent room as their room and furnish are pretty old and looked insecured. But, after all, this motel should be in consider list for those who visit to Disneyland. However, if there is a same price and good location motel in my list next time, I might try with another one :P

After we had checked in to our motel, we just immediately went to Disneyland direction to buy our tickets for next day to avoid line-up at next morning. After long discussion, we decided to buy one day ticket for Disneyland Park only, instead of hopper ticket for two parks (Disneyland Park and Disneyland Adventure Park), the foremer costs USD69 while the later costs USD94, and we were worried that we would not have enough time for hopping between two parks as Disneyland Park is large enough for a day trip.

After we got our tickets issued, we just took a walk to Downtown Disneyland, which is free admission, there just like a happening town and we could see a lot of shops and restaurants, they are free for visit and visitors could buy their soveniors among variety of choices.

Although Downtown Disneyland wasn't big, we still could spend a few hours just walked and looked around the shops and their street perfomance. Of course, I could never forget to buy myself a postcard as a memory record and we found the mailbox inside Disneyland Hotel, just a gold box on their information desk.

While we were wandering around Downtown Disneyland, we saw a free tram service and we were curious with it if where would we lead to by the tram, then we just took the tram without any consideration and finally we dropped off at Disneyland parking area where we didn't really need to go. However, we were abled to see an excellent firework performance from the carpark location, it lasted for 15 minutes, I was really enjoyed with the show and saying that Anaheim residents are so lucky because they can see firework frequently.

Finally, our Downtown Disneyland trip just ended at about 11pm and we needed to have a good rest, so that we would have enough energy for our Disneyland Park, which is open from 8am until midnight during summer :)
