Day 3 in Los Angeles - Hollywood and LA Downtown (29 Jul 2009)

Finally, we have to say goodbye to Anaheim Disneyland area and directed to LA/Hollywood area on 29 July 2009, I actually like Anaheim a lot because there is really a quiet and beutiful town, their building are special and beautiful, where I just felt like I was in fairly tale. Well, we couldn't live in fairly tale forever and needed to back to reality in one day, and I took a final snapshot for Anaheim in dawn, don't you think it is beautiful?

How do we get to LA? There we needed to get a bus from our hotel to Anaheim train station, then we took a train from Anaheim Metrolink station to Union Station in LA town, later we needed to transit to Metro red line to Hollywood/Western station, there is our hotel nearby.

Our hotel is Super 8 Motel, it is just a few minutes walk from Hollywood/Western metro station and it is close to Hollywood happening area, it is just between Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard, which are two happening streets in Hollywood area.

Actually, we were too early to our motel at 8:30am and the hotel didn't allow check in after 2pm, else we need to pay extra USD20 for early check in after 10am, therefore we decided to pay extra for convenient, actually I was worried if SL would be unhappy for extra money spent, but he didn't, I think this might because we were seperated soon, he just didn't want to ruin our trip as I was sad enough at this seperation moment.

Somehow, I just felt that we were just two married lovers, but with husband and wife in another country, there we planned our trip once a year by hiding from our husband/wife and date with each other, and there finally we would need to seperate soon and back to meet our husband/wife again :( What?? How can a married couple can feel like secret dating?

Although we decided to check in early, we still too early for it, so that we left our luggage in our motel's luggage room and just walked to somewhere nearby along Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard. When we walked until to Hollywood/Highland area, we found there were a lot of stars on the floor, there we could found a name of famous people on each star, there we didn't forget to take some pictures for our favourite. And, there we could find crowd at the star of Micheal Jackson, there becomes a little memorial place for him and we could find many people put some flowers and his picture there for him.

Also, When you walked all along the Star Walk area, you could find a lot of people make up like some movie characters and walking around shopping complex area, they are available for tourists to take pictures with them and of course they welcome tips. Therefore, you could find superman, spiderman, badman, whatever man there. There I was lucky been caught by an unknown movie character and taking pictures with him.

We just checked in to our room after 10am and we took some rest there because we woke up at 5am at the morning to catch our train to Hollywood.

Fortunately, Super8 Motel provided free internet access and free local and toll-free phones call, which wasn't provided by Zaby's Motor, so that I access to Cathay Pacific website immediately and checked their LA toll-free line. Until this day, my flight ticket was return to Malaysia on 31st July midnight, that's mean SL and I would only had two days left to be together, so I would like to delay my flight for another day, then we could still spend our Friday together since he got his flight to Oregon at Friday night.

Unfortunately, I still couldn't make any change on my flight ticket because they were fully booked and the staff advised me to call the line again at next day, that is the only thing I could do.

Later at noon, we just prepared ourself to go to LA downtown for half day trip, there we got our day trip metro ticket, which we could hop in and out to any metro line and metro bus service for full day with only USD5 ticket, this ticket was worth if we take more than 4 rides in a day.

As I remembered, there are three visitor centers in LA county, they are at Hollywood, Beaverly Hill and LA Downtown, then we decided to visit LA Downtown visitor center first before we started our day trip. As SL knows that I like museum visiting, there he asked the staff on Exposition Park direction, there we could find a lot of musuems gather together, included LA County Natural History Musuem, LA Memorial Coliseum, Afro-American Musuem, California Science Musuem, etc.

However, Exposition Park is not in LA Downtown and we couldn't get there with Metro transportation service, there we took a DASH bus number 7 with cheap fare just quarter dollar each. With the bus route guide, we got to Exposition Park without any difficulty, there we found a big Rose Garden and a lot of musuem collections around the Park, it is just totally different with packed LA Downtown.

LA County History Natural Musuem and Rose Garden.

Between California Science Musuem and History Natural Musuem, we decided to visit History Natural Musuem because of impact from movie "Night at the Musuem" and we remembered that we fought with kids to play games in Hong Kong Science Musuem, we just didn't want to fight again :P

At the entrance of History Natural Musuem, we saw that was two dinasours fossil on the platform, this recalled me the same scence of "Night at the Musuem", does every History Natural Musuem in US exhibited a dinasour fossil at the entrance?

History Natural Musuem exhibited about wilflife and history of world and US, it was a good informatic musuem, there we also could see some bison models in the Musuem, this recalled our Yellowstone trip, where we could see bison everywhere :D I think they look so real, this really needed to put a lot of effort to prepare.

Can you tell they are fake?

The most exciting corner in History Natural Musuem to me is the bird room, there we could see some special effect and interesting games and information. I think ostrich exhibition is the most innovation part of the musuem, there you could find an ostrich model keep changing between normal look and its bone structure, they are fully ulitilised light and glass theory on this exhibition, which took me a while to learn thier hardwork :D

Sorry for dark picture, but I think this is really an interesting exhibition.

It was about 5:30pm after we got out of History Natural Musuem and backed to LA Downtown, then we took sometimes to walk around the downtown, it is packed with tall buildings and people, but I got some insecured sense in LA Downtown area, honestly I don't really like there as I would need to be alert all the time, it wasn't an easy feeling for me. And I think it was even harder to SL, because he needed to be more aware than me to protect himself and me as well.

Finally, we didn't spend long in downtown area and decided to take our dinner at Hollywood there as there look safer to us. Personally, I think Sunset Boulevard would be a good place for dining because you can find some cheaper food (included some fast food :D) along the street, there we found an "In and Out" fast food, SL told me we only can find it in California, but I felt strange that they only provide four flavours in their menu but the restaurant was still always full with customers, I think this mainly because of the cheaper price and big portion.

Our trip was nearly ended with visiting souvenir shops along Hollywood Boulevard to find any souvenir, but they all are too expensive to us until we didn't spend any cent on souvenir, but a postcard. But it was interesting that we found a map of Beaverly Hill about Movie Star Home and Crime Scences, then I just couldn't help to take a picture of the map.

Finally, our trip was ended for the day and I was so sad that we had only a day left to be together, I really hated seperation from then :(
