Christmas Trip

It's Christmas here, SL and I was thinking to stay home on the day because there was no much place for visit nearby our place, but we just think this would be wasted our holiday and we should have some celebration on the day, finally we decided to travel north of Oregon to Seaside and Astoria to have a day trip.

This is our plan, we would go to Seaside beach first, then Astoria and back to home, which seem perfect, right?

It took about 2 hours driving from Hillsboro to Seaside, and we stopped at a snowzone, where we saw a lot of snow there and they hadn't melted yet, I was so excited because this is the snow that I wanted to see, that they won't melt within a day, I think it was snowing there two weeks ago and it should be a big snow while we could see jungle is cover with white snow, too bad that I still didn't see snowing at here yet.

Later, we arrived to Seaside beach, there was a "Lewis and Clark" statue to memorise them on their exploration, Lewis and Clark are two important explorers in US, they discovered Oregon and developed a 3700 miles trail across 11 states in US, which is really an amazing contribution when transportation was not convenience back 200 plus years ago.

Of course, we took a walk along the beach, this is really rare to us that we need to wear jacket (even winter cloth) on the beach, but it was good and we even saw a group of people is playing football on the beach. Then, we walked together at Seaside City Center, I really love there because of their beautiful scenery, the river, the bridges and their shops/houses, they got a lot of beatiful and cute buildings there, I really love my trip which is totally out of my expectation.

It was about noon and we felt hungry, luckily that we found an opened restaurant there, shops are normally closed on Christmas, therefore we found streets are silent while we were walking at that area, but we enjoyed the quietness but beautiful view there. Then, we took our lunch at Pudgy's restaurant in Seaside, this is my first trial on clam chowder soup, it felt good, however we don't this their food worth for their price because they weren't delicious but expensive, which costed us USD27 (included tips). Anyways, I think there is not an experience without a try, we can't expect that we can get everything worth for its price in our lifetime, do you agree?

After lunch, we just proceeded to Astoria, our GPS didn't work well at Astoria, which couldn't find a "real" attraction for us, there was some pathfinding in Astoria City Center. Still we could see a lot of good sceneries in Astoria, it is a beautiful town on hill, there we could see the mouth of Columbia River George and a bridge across from Astoria to Washington state. I didn't regret to visit to Astoria, this is really a nice trip on Christmas and Astoria Column is crowdless, therefore we could feel more enjoy there by walking around Astoria Column, including stepped up until the top of tower.

On the way back to home, we saw a folk of elks at OR-202, it was a lot of elks which made me so excited for taking some pictures of them and seeing them crossing the road.

We backed to home around 6pm and we really enjoy our day trip to Seaside and Astoria, it was nice. And we found thanksful that we could be together finally after long seperation, which is really different between being seperated and together, that we think that a couple should be staying together and handle problem together, then we decided never have long seperation in future. Well, only long seperation would let you learn to cherish your relationship after reunion.
