Day 1 to Bali (4/12/2008 - Tanah Lot)
This is a good day, without rain, it's a good weather for travelling which signed a good start.
At the early morning, we took flight from Penang to Kuala Lumpur and transited to Bali Denpasar Airport, we had our lunch on flight, fried rice, nasi lemak and cherstnut. We need to pay for meal in Airasia flight because it is budget flight and meal doesn't include in airfare.
Our fligh landed to Denpasar Airport around 13:25pm, but it took us quite long time at immigration check point, due to too many tourists and officers took alert on western people check in, I think this is to make sure they would be safe during staying in Bali.
After we reached to arrival hall, Kasudin (the tour company incharger) brought us to our van and introduced our tour guide to us, whose name is Adenan (we called him Anan in short). On the way to our private van, we met some girls and they gave us a ring of welcome flower, it was beautiful.
Our tour guide, Anan is a friendly person, he told us a lot of story about Bali, history, culture, faith, politic, legend, custome and a lot more, I like to listen what he said and he looks knowledgable. Also, our private van provided unlimited drinks (soft drinks and mineral water) for us, but it was located at front and we needed to tell Anan when we needed a drink, sometime we would feel shy for request it.
We were not checked in to hotel immediately, but Anan brought us to Tanah Lot, which is a tourism viewpoint, Anan said it is a must see for a Bali tour with its legend behind. According to Anan, Tanah Lot means Temple of Sea God and that is a story behind.
Once upon of time, there was a pregnent woman, who met a farmer during her deliver period and the farmer helped her to deliver a twin. Before the woman left, she gave her children to the farmer (well, I also don't know why she didn't take her kids with her). After twin grew up, the brother who is clever and preditor, was afraid his sister would be in dangerous due to her pretty, and decided to find their mother for some protection. Finally, their mother threw out something (I forgot what it is) and formed a palace on the sea for her daughter to reside.
Also, that is another legend told about a famous monk was meditating near to the sea and felt some spirit there. Then, the monk told to villager and asked them to build a temple for Sea God, which is Tanah Lot.
According to Anan and what we saw in Bali, we found that Balinese are quite believe in other spirit exist in the world, they worship a lot and they worship everything, which is included tree, stone, sea, river, wood and whatever. Balinese believes that everything in world has life and they need to respect them, therefore they can live in peace.
While I was walking in Bali, I could find their worship package (as in picture below) everywhere, Anan told us the most important thing for Balinese is worship.
After we took a glance of Tanah Lot, we went to the market nearby, there were selling a lot of souvenir. SL planned to buy a pair of sunglass for me to block the sun directed to my eyes, however I think it was too expensive to have a plastic and easy-to-break sunglass, finally we didn't buy it.
Nevertheless, we were abled to buy some key chains from Tanah Lot Market, which we planned to give to our friends in Malaysia. Also, we finally could have some small changes from our shopping.
At the end of market, we saw a bat was hanging in front of a shop, we were not sure if it was for exhibition and took some photos for it.
After tour to Tanah Lot, we went for dinner at Kunyit Balinese Restaurant to have some experiences with Balinese cusines, this meal is quite nice and delicious, they call it as sharing menu, where food was placed at the middle and shared between two people, but it was full enough because with multicourse.
The meal was started with some snacks as appertizer, satay as starter, sharing dishes as main course and various desserts. Due to too many courses, we were confused if the meal was completed after main course, Anan told us that would be a dessert while he saw us ready to go :P Coffee or tea was served at the end of meal, we felt quite relaxed during dinner because waiters were served with relax and comfortable motion, we really felt that we switched to honeymoon mode gradually.
SL told me that he really liked and satisfied this dinner meal, because he could eat many types of food, which he was not expected.

After dinner, Anan took us to hotel and checked in. Our hotel is Ramayana Hotel, it is a four stars hotel as Anan told.
On the way to hotel, we past by the street with the first bomb case in Bali, Anan told us some details about the bomb case and how did it happen. We could see grieve of victims from Anan's face, it was really a tragedy.
We took long time to reach our hotel, there was traffic jam along the street due to one way system.
At our arrival, security requested to scan our lagguages to make sure we didn't bring dangerous equipment into hotel, I think this is because of bomb case tragedy.
After we settled all check in process, a potter helped us to take our lagguages to our room, it was funny to see SL past the tips to the potter, it just like to give him an award :D. Anyways, this is SL's first time giving tips, he would need more practice on this.
At night, we took a break in our room and drank our free wine, it was Balinese Rice Wine, I think it was too much alcohol and I couldn't finish it.
