Star Walk 2008
We went out from house to PISA at 6:30am, it took us only 5 minutes to get there, we exchanged our reporting card with a wristband, there was a staff asked us stood behind the registration point before started. However, how can I exchange the wristband if I stood behind it? I think they got conflict with their words.
Although the officer asked us to stand behind registration point, we still preferred to walk around before start, and we found there was quite a number of participants gathered at starting point, so that we stayed there.
After a moment, another officer asked people to get back to regitration point. Then, we walked to registration point as he asked and we saw many participants were isolated by some barrier, but time was close to 7am, this made us fishy and followed some participants to starting point.
While we were just close to starting point and haven't got ready ourselves, we just heard a gunshot and we were surprised, was the walk started? Confused us, because there were still a lot of participants not at the starting point. Well, it was started because we saw participants in front were moving. Oh... what's happened? Why the organiser looked disorganise?
Anyways, we had no choice, but started to walk as other participant in front did, without any ready mode.
On the route, I took over some participants and some participants also took over me, then I was walking for 10km all the way, it was hard and tough but I still could complete it. However, I found that is too few of check point because that is quite long distance between 2 checkpoints, therefore I saw a lot of participants were running out of check point, but no record from judges.
Finally, I completed the route around 1 hour 15 minutes, at 45th placing but still couldn't get any prize. After a moment, I saw SL arrived, he is at 214th placing. Wow... it is too competitive for men open. After took some drinks in PISA, we decided to have change at home first before proceed to next event, since there were still many people to arrive.
After we backed to PISA, we tried hard to find Star newspaper but failed, why is it so difficult to find it? This year programme looked a little different with last year as we could grab a newspaper at finishing point last year, but not for this year, we needed to have treasure hunt but still couldn't get one.
Whole event was ended at 12 and we still didn't win any lucky draw, and we got backed to home around 1pm as it was too crowded after event ended. Just backed to home, we were extremely hungry and went for our lunch. Then, we took a good sleep after lunch as we were too tired after the walk.
I think Star Walk should learn from Penang Bridge Marathon for the starting time by category, at least divide starting time by gender because it was too crowdy if all category start together. Anyways, we think it was still fun to take part on the event, it is another milestone for our relationship :)
