NBA in Portland
UK is famous with their football games, while US is famous with their basketball games, and among so many basketball games, NBA is the most popular among of all. Of course, we shouldn't miss an NBA memory while we are still in US here, at least we need to experience it once.
Last Sunday 21st of February, SL and I were going to Portland Rose Garden Quarter for an NBA game, SL had tickets booked at few weeks ago when he was under pressure during work. which drove him crazy to spend some money on entertainment :P Then finally we went to the game and witnessed the game between Portland Trail Blazter and Utah Jazz. For me, I think that is really an experience to watch a game in the stadium, it is truely different with what we watched it on TV.
At the beginning of the game, there went to introduce team players from PTB and UJ, there was a lot of special effect when PTB at the stage due to they are the home players.
Besides the game, there were a lot of special performance and lucky draw during the "show" at the break time, it was too bad that we didn't get any special gift :P
Before the game, SL asked if I supported with team, of course I would choose Portland because I had never been to Utah before, how could I support an unvisited place. At the first three quarters, Portland Trail Blazter was leading the game, but with the gap closer while each quarter ended, until they were tied at the end of four quarters, then Utah Jazz was finally won the game after overtime with 93-89.
Though Portland lost, we still think this game is worth to watch because of overtime value added :P and experience to watch the real game in stadium. And now, I know why we call advantage in home stadium, because it is big different to play at your home stadium, players can get fully support in the home feild but the huge pressure for guest players.
The most surprising witness to me was I could see a lot of animation, on cheering for home players but discouraging the guest players. Also, some "make more noise" or "louder" signals to audience when guest players were shooting for their penalty, this is a way to distract them.
During the half time, "Taco Bell" offered all audience for special gift if Portland team could score 100 points at the end of game, this was really an attracting offer and I even "helped" to "make more noise" when Utah Jazz in their penalty shoot :P However, Portland still could score 100 points and lost the game :(
After the game, I asked SL if Portland Trail Blazter is a strong team, he told me that they are strong that they can win some pretty strong team but Utah is Portland's nemesis. Yup, it's true, the strongest team would have their weakness and nemesis, there provides their space to improve and grow. Thanks SL for bringing me to an excellent experience of NBA.
