Second day in Maldives

After bed bugs problem in The Boutique Inn, I stayed alert and couldn't sleep well in the new room, I actually kept counting down for 4:15am and I finally woke up before that because I couldn't wait any longer to move out from the room and transferred to my vacation destination. After taking breakfast, our guide helped us to transfer to airport for domestic flight, to be honest, he is really a helpful guy and helped us every detail until seaplane checked in.

Our vacation resort is Vilamendhoo Island Resort, which need a seaplane transfer before we got to it. We checked in to Trans Maldivian (TMA), a seaplane provider at 5:15am and a bus took us to seaplane transfer area, and there is a lounge ready specially for Vilamendhoo Island Resort customer (I think it should be the same for other same standard resort), the lounge was great because we could at least rest for a while there before transferred to our resort after the sleepless night, there is more comfortable than The Boutique Inn. Besides, the lounge also provide snacks and drinks for customers consumption.

Until then, we finally switched to excitement mode and realized that we were going to an island in Maldives soon, we chose a seat which can be lied down at the open air of lounge, and it is just right in front of seaplane parking area, what an amazing view to us and we took a lot of photos there.

At first, we actually worried if our seaplane scheduled at 6am was too early, if sky might be too dark that we might not able to see anything that time. However, sky in Maldives brighten earlier than Malaysia's, sun rises around 5:45am and everything is totally visible at 6am, then we only felt relaxed. It was great to see the first sunrise in Maldives, such a beautiful view with seaplanes in the pictures.

The seaplane took about 20 minutes to get to Vilamendhoo Island, actually it didn't land directly to the resort but at a floating platform, I think this is because the island surround by house reef so that it only accessible by small boat/ferry to protect those corals in its original form. Then a ferry from Vilamendhoo Island Resort came to the platform and exchange passenger with seaplane who were checked out on that day, this is new to me and a nice experience.

When we arrived to Vilamendhoo Island, Sabrina from Reception served us, she explained everything that we need to know about our stay and what were included in our holiday package, but we only could check in to our room at noon, still we were eligible to breakfast and lunch as long as we were in the island.

After resting awhile at Reception area, we walked around the island and took photos, the water villa is wonderful and their view is just amazing, unfortunately they were sold out when we made our reservation. Also, we took a lot of photos around the island, weather is just nice, sky is blue, sea is clear and beach is white sandy, everything is just match with my dream or even more than that, I couldn't believe that we were in Maldives now.

We finally able to check in ourselves to room 152 at north of island, it is a semi detached beach villa though we requested a fully detached one previously, but I think they might need to arrange according to availability. First of all, we rested for a while in our room before any activity because we were too tired after all.

Resting is to make sure we fully recharged for next activities, later on we went for kayaking, our package allows us to have an hour free kayaking everyday, so we got a two people kayak and rowed, the person said it might take about 40 minutes to complete a round of the island. Of course this isn't our first kayaking experience, so we took about 30 minutes to complete it. Besides, the person told us that better time for kayaking is morning because of high tide, we could row to top of coral if it is high tide becuase this will reduce harm to corals. So we decided to arrange another session next morning. Kayaking took lot of our arm energy, so we stayed idle and viewing the beautiful beach view in front of our villa, there every villa is provided with two beach chairs to rest.

Then, we went for snorkeling, the exciting part was we decided to swim without a life jacket first, still we managed to swim and saw a lot of marine lifes and corals. Vilamendhoo Island Resort has 10 reef exit for travellers to explore and all swimmers are advised to swim according to channel of reef exit, it is a channel purposely created to protect coral from hurting by swimmer. After we were at the channel, I saw a lot of coral under me, then I suddenly hesitated because I cannot stand there anymore as this might hurt those corals. Then, I started worry if I can swim further without a life jacket because sea will be deeper if I swim forward. Finally, SL and I decided turned back and wear a life jacket on the next day. However, this experience really worth a lot because this is my first time swim in sea like this by myself.

Later on, we just walked toward sunset bar for some sunset picture, however SL wasn't satisfied with today photography result, so I suggested to take it again on another day.

That is a full and relax day for my first day in Vilamendhoo Island Resort, I really like this vacation, it was just what we wanted.
